HASSLER AND MUSSER ONE POINT VICTORS

AT DRAMATIC SEASON FINALE

(May 10 , Boulder Lake, PA) Unlike the last time the SCORE corps gathered around South Mountain Raceway when both feature winners ran away from their respective fields by a wide margin, tonight’s events not only went down to the wire for the checkered flags, but saw the races for two point titles take a dramatic twist to wind down the 1999-2000 campaign. Jeff Hassler squeaked-out a much-deserved win in the USAC dirt champ coda by a single point over a determined Tim Musser. Musser’s effort, though , gave him a share of the point championship as he tied Dana Marsden in the final point tally. Marsden led going into tonight’s event, but managed only a fourth place in this hard-fought contest. Defending champion Mike Lengel was third in the race while Steve Brenner was fifth. Musser rebounded in the USAC sprint finale to nip Brenner by a digit to grab his second victory in a row in the Thunder and Lightning division. Brenner, however, stole the 1999-2000 title as former point leader Marsden could only muster seventh place in the event. Sue Frey was third in the 100 lapper, Lengel fourth, and Bnon Hassler fifth.
